Social housing: keeping frontline staff safe

Damage to property, threats to people, illegal activity, communal areas taken over. Anti-social behaviour and disputes between neighbours regularly put your staff in harm's way.

The landlord's duty of care

A landlord is responsible for the safety of staff who enter tenanted properties and deal with the public face to face.

Risk of assault

Illegal activity, violence, weapons: social housing can be a genuinely hostile place to work.

Estate management duties

Landlords have to give tenants quiet enjoyment of their homes and keep communal areas safe to use, which means sending staff into them.

Working out of reach

Some of the places staff have to go have no mobile signal at all: basements, garages, lift shafts.

What are the risks for a housing officer working alone?

Risk of falling

AI-based detection raises an immediate alert if the officer falls, on any estate in the area.

Sudden illness

Working alone is a serious risk if someone is taken ill. No-movement detection and the Lifeline check-in raise an alarm after prolonged inactivity.

Risk of assault

Officers go out alone to deal with repairs, anti-social behaviour and damage in communal areas, where verbal abuse and physical violence are a real possibility.

Chemical exposure

Maintaining social housing sometimes means handling chemicals. After harmful exposure, raising the alarm on a Neovigie device takes almost nothing.

A lone working device built for housing teams

Protect staff working alone on difficult estates and in enclosed spaces,
with a lone working solution that is reliable and quick to roll out.

Multi-trigger alerts for every risk on a visit

Falls, sudden illness, assault, no movement: the alarm is raised even when the officer has lost consciousness.

Shaped around the customer: the L'Oréal example

Large international companies such as L'Oréal have already chosen Neovigie to equip their people. With Neovigie, L'Oréal protects staff working in very different conditions, in particular night shifts, weekends and the remote corners of its plants.

What Neovigie brings to L'Oréal:

  • Cover for the roles that need it: Neovigie protects everyone who can end up working alone, from packaging operators to quality technicians and maintenance engineers.
  • Real-time oversight: Supervisors run the monitoring platform themselves, with a live view of who is working alone and every alarm as it comes in.

Protection that holds up:
With Neovigie, L'Oréal has tightened its safety procedures and can be confident of a fast response in an emergency.

Let's build a safer place to work, together.

Why give your housing officers a lone working device

Building, refurbishing and managing housing stock puts staff in other people's homes every day. Social housing carries a high risk of incidents for anyone doing that alone: taken ill, a fall during a repair, verbal or physical abuse on a visit.

Without a lone working device, an incident inside a flat goes unnoticed and the response is delayed. That delay is what turns an injury into a serious one. Under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, the employer has a general duty to protect its employees and to assess the risks they face.

A landlord therefore needs to assess the risks its officers actually run and put proportionate arrangements in place. A lone working solution covers three things at once: protection, prevention, and a defensible position if you are ever asked what you did about it.
