Road haulage: a high-risk sector for people working alone

Unsocial hours, manual handling, dealing with strangers at the door, often in places with nobody else around. Transport and delivery put your people in risky situations
every single day.

The employer's duty

Under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the employer is responsible for the safety of staff working alone on the road and on delivery rounds.

Risk of assault

Drops in difficult areas, load theft, disputes at the door: a driver on their own is an easy target for verbal abuse and physical violence.

Manual handling injuries

Loading and unloading raises the risk of a fall or an injury, especially with items that are really too heavy for one person.

Working with no signal

On top of night work, the sector sends people alone into remote depots and rural areas with no mobile coverage.

What are the risks for a driver working alone?

Risk of falling

AI-based detection raises an immediate alert if the driver falls while loading, unloading or climbing down from the cab.

Sudden illness

Driving alone is a serious risk if the driver is taken ill. The Lifeline check-in raises an alarm when a driver stays inactive for too long.

Risk of assault

A discreet SOS button raises the alarm without being seen, on a delivery round or at an unfamiliar site.

Loss of signal

Continuous cover in areas with no mobile signal, on the road and inside buildings, with an automatic alarm on network loss.

A lone working device built for transport and delivery

Protect everyone in the logistics chain who works alone,
from the HGV driver to the last-mile courier.

Multi-trigger alerts for every risk on the round

Falls, sudden illness, assault, no movement: the alarm is raised even when the driver has lost consciousness.

Shaped around the customer: the L'Oréal example

Large international companies such as L'Oréal have already chosen Neovigie to equip their people. With Neovigie, L'Oréal protects staff working in very different conditions, in particular night shifts, weekends and the remote corners of its plants.

What Neovigie brings to L'Oréal:

  • Cover for the roles that need it: Neovigie protects everyone who can end up working alone, from packaging operators to quality technicians and maintenance engineers.
  • Real-time oversight: Supervisors run the monitoring platform themselves, with a live view of who is working alone and every alarm as it comes in.

Protection that holds up:
With Neovigie, L'Oréal has tightened its safety procedures and can be confident of a fast response in an emergency.

Let's build a safer place to work, together.

Why give your drivers a lone working device

Long distances, heavy loads, unloading, tight rounds. Transport and delivery operators work under constraints that expose their people to specific risks: taken ill at the wheel, a fall while handling a load, an assault on a drop in a difficult area, an accident at a deserted lay-by.

Without a lone working device, an incident can go unnoticed for hours before anyone raises the alarm. That delay is what turns an injury into a serious one. Under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, the employer has a general duty to protect its employees and to assess the risks they face.

A transport operator therefore needs to assess the risks its drivers and warehouse staff actually run, and put proportionate arrangements in place. A lone working solution covers three things at once: protection, prevention, and a defensible position if you are ever asked what you did about it.
